Winter Warning!
Published: February 11, 2021
1) Make sure you are aware to the location of your main shut-off valve to your property. This is good not only for winterizing (in case you are planning of being away from your home for a period of time) or in the event of an emergency.
2) Disconnect water hoses from the faucet so to prevent water freezing in the hose, subsequently causing the faucet to possibly burst.
3) If your exterior faucets have cut-offs valves, close them and drain the faucets. If they do not, insulate them with foam faucet covers.
4) Close foundation vents.
5) Open cupboard drawers underneath all sinks in the kitchen and bathroom areas to allow for warm air to flow around the supply lines. It is important to remove any/all cleaners away in these areas away from reach of children or pets.
6) Keep the daytime thermostat setting the same during the evening to regulate the temperature within the home plumbing.
7) There may be other areas throughout your property that may need similar attention such as personal irrigation systems, washing machines supply lines and personal spas located in your backyard to name a few. Please follow manufacturer instructions for winterization.
